Risk Omeprazole Facts in Questions
When do side effects kick in after taking Omeprazole? I have been taking it for the last 2 days and wondered if i still could be at risk of developing side effects to it? I am taking 20mg a day with my dinner, for acid reflux. Thanks

Kate from Drugs.com replied: "It's really hard to say if and when you'll experience side effects from omeprazole. Some side effects may take time to manifest. The known side effects of omeprazole are: Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Omeprazole Delayed-Release Tablets: Diarrhea; headache. Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Omeprazole Delayed-Release Tablets: Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; unusual hoarseness); chest pain; dark urine; fast or irregular heartbeat; fever, chills, or sore throat; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual tiredness; vision changes; yellowing of the eyes or skin. "

how long do side effects take to kick in when starting omeprazole for acid reflux? I have taken 2 now, do you think theres a risk i will develop side effects? thanks

gymnasticschica183 replied: "I took omeprazole in pre ion strength and it is AMAZING! If your taking it in pre ion strength then it takes about a month to start taking effect and trust me, it's worth the wait. And no, there are no side effecs accept occasional dizziness."

tmb2111 replied: "i have been taking omeprazole and then pantoprazole for about 6 years and they worked from about the first couple of days, as for side effects i have encountered none at all. the side effects listed on your meds are extremely rare (less than 0.5%, i have been told) so i wouldn't worry too much and just let them work their magic. hope all works out for you and take care."

Suffering from Acid Reflux for 10 years!!!!? I am 24 years old and have had the problem for 10 years now. I was on and off Lansoprazole for a few years. The problem then started to get worse, especially when the amount of acid made me sick. But now I am taking Omeprazole 20 mg daily which seems to be working, I have always asked myself if there has been any damage caused and the possible risks of long term reflux. I would like to know peoples experiences with reflux - especially anyone who has been a long term suffer. Many Thanks

chazz_47 replied: "take a big spponful of apple cider vinegar... no joke. it's nasty but works. something to do w/ acids in the stomach.."

Gentle Winds replied: "Untreated acid reflux does create damage over time to the esophagus. One COULD develop esophageal cancer as a result of untreated reflux. You're on medication and that's great. I have suffered with this due to a hiatal hernia for at least 15 years. So far no medication has helped me any, and I throw up almost every single morning due to the extreme amount of acid I get. It really sucks. I do worry about what effect it will have on me sometime in the future."

Ibredd replied: "some people benefit from the apple vinegar program which is a acid. It may be that by putting in an acid the body quits making acid because it now thinks it has enough, also acids are known to neutralize one another. I only got worse on anti-acids"

saturn replied: "You need to go to a doctor if you have not already. I have to take one Prilosec a day for the rest of my life. I used to have heartburn all the time and finally my esophagus collapsed and I had to have it streched back out."

Blokheed replied: "It is 'cheaper' for the NHS to 'treat' people for reflux rather than cure them. Lanszoprazole is not cheap by no means but Omeprazole is not far behind either. Trouble is ..to diagnose what exactly is causing your reflux is equally as expensive when you consider the various scans and consultations involved. As a sufferer myself, I sympathise and if you indicate via an edit on your Q that you are genuine I will speak more of this subject."

Starlet replied: "This is a ques. I HAVE to answer!! U hit gold w. me (fact)!!!!!!! I am 48 years old, and I have been expierencing CONSTANT chect pain, in the upper left part of my chest (24hr pain!!), about 3 inch circle ,& 1 inch up, in my left chest area. I (after clearing that it was NOT my heart), go diagnosed w. GERD, like you (REFLUX), was given drug after drug, including the ones mentioned. Dr.s very confident (seen lots of dr's!), but 1 thing.: NOTHING HAS WORKED!! Yet the dr's still continued to prescribe the same meds, even when i told them they NEVER worked (neither did a change in diet, or excersise, OR SHRINKS, etc (dr.s send u to Shrinks when they can't find the cause for something, so be careful!). Even some dr's agreed that , althoguh i have reflux, maybe that isn't what is causing my pain! (I have had 4 scope tests, where they put the tv sccope down your throat,...so no ulcers,...& yes, i've read that reflux can eat your esphopagas in time, iff untreated, but i'm ok!). So it's a mystery, except that, on my own, i realized lately that i was eating 16 percent of calcium /day, & read that it plays a great part in telling nerves how to fire off/function/communicate w. each other. So, after i see a new doc (& regardless) i'm hoping that in 1-2 years, I'll find that the reflux is less, after restoring the calcium (& blood calcium was fine,..but i read the body 'steals it' from bones, when it needs to,soo don't be fooled if your blood cal. is fine,....look at your dail food intake! Last: there is a test that, apparently, not many general doctors know about: I is for people that have little/no pos. affects by drugs alone, for their reflux. It is a proceedure where a specialist puts instruments down your throat to 'streangthen ' your esphogeal sphinter', & make it seal better, stopping the Reflux! Find a specialist that knows about this test (search for the test on internet!) Good LUCK!"

andrew642593 replied: "I am a 40 year sufferer of acid indigestion, and have had many investigations, I have been told I have a hiatus hernia, but nothing serious. I have tried many potions and pills, and always go back to my old faithful, a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, in a glass of water, I have a big fizzy burp, and the acid is gone, it never fails. I can't see apple cider vinegar being of any use, vinegar is acid, and will only aggravate the problem, but if it works for some, why not?"

mailliam replied: "I am 54 and I have suffered from it up till now as we speak. Have a look here. Good Luck."

ROBERT H replied: "got same problems, mine was finnaly diagnosed as an ulcer,"

keepfit70 replied: "I am 71 years old, and have suffered very bad acid reflux for 20 years. I have to sleep sitting up, otherwise the acid comes up into my throat, and makes me choke. I am on 40 mg a day of Omeprazole also Zantac and Peptac Liquid from the Doctor. It doesn't always work, and the thought of eating anything with acid in it, fills me with horror. My problem is mainly at night, so I don't eat or drink after 6 pm, but I can still get bad reflux in the middle of the night."

Stomach disorder diagnosis required? Hi friends, I have been diagnosed with a suspected duodenal ulcer. Camera test endoscopy showed only gastric erosions on stomach wall. However, I get no acid reflux, no burning sensation, just a slight pounding and pain in my lower stomach. H.Pylori test was initially lost then found, and they said it was negative, so I'm not sure what to believe on this one. 2 years I've been on and off Omeprazole. My stomach/intestines will be fine for 6 weeks, eating anything I like. Then over a period of 2 weeks my appetite will slowly decrease to the point where my stomach pain is too much that I can't risk eating for 2/3 weeks approx. During this last Only the last 3 weeks of an episode do I get very bad IBS type symptoms, trapped wind, but no diorreaha or bloating. Guessing this could be a result of the ulcer causing food to not be digested properly and being pushed through the intestine/bowels and causing constipation and things to lock up. But........... unlike IBS it doesn't matter what I eat, everything causes the pain from my lower stomach to my lower bowels, wh. The Omeprazole does reduce the pain in my stomach, but not in the intestines, etc. I think! When my stomach gets back to normal eventually, I don't get any IBS type symptoms, I go to toilet properly every day, and I can eat what I like. I'm a fit person, attend the gym, don't get colds/flus, don't smoke, only drink on a Saturday night (2 glasses of wine, 3 pints, 2/3 shots over a period of 6 hours however). I'm a healthly weight with 9% bodyfat, a stone of extra muscle due to the gym and feel very strong and healthy normally. My diet is usually better than the average person. Salads, fibre, protein, lower carbs and lower fat than the norm diet. I take multi-vitamins, cod liver oil capsules every other day. Only other medication is Nasonex Nose Spray from dust/dustmite allergy, which I carefully administer as to not sniff it past my nose. Helps me..... sleep better. I'm seeing my GP (who is sympathetic and friendly) to see if I can get a triple pill combination (omep, amoxycillin, etc) to go with my Omeprazole to ensure that H.Pylori is eradicated. I had admit myself to hospital (emergency assessment unit) as the pain was getting me down too much and stopped in over night and have some IV painkillers and Buscopan. The specialist then saw me the next day as he was on general unit duty luckily. However, he told me to come back in 6 weeks to have another camera test! Why not do it then when I have the worst symptoms??? Just trying to get a more definitive answer on this one, and have made this as detailed as possible. My current specialist is very unsympathetic and can't wait to get me out the door when I have an appointment with him. Even though I have weeks of misery waiting to be seen due to NHS waiting lists. I'm taking too much time off work and will lose my job shortly. Quality of life is very poor... when I'm ill like this. Thanks in advance, Lee. ******************************************** Steve, I wouldn't say I'm stressed really. I'm not a particulary happy person in general. Trouble is with this condition is that it could be so many things :-( Ta, Lee.

jez replied: "hmm gud question, but i dont think you will find the answer on yahoo open up and look elswere look places you wouldnt usually good luck x"

Steve P replied: "I would trust the ulcer diagnosis. Might some of it be the result of stress? Do you have high stress?"

tinapot replied: "i think it is better for you to follow your doctor and have an endoscopy again or the camera which you call it. you might really have an H. pylori, the bacteria which worsens your condition. And if it turns out to be positive of H. pylori, the doctor will prescribe you with triple therapy as what he say which includes not only omeprazole but antibiotics to kill the bacteria. but if it's negative, he might just have to do more work ups to evaluate your condition. hope you get well. and another thing Steve P. can also be right. it could also be stress related."

Luvfactory replied: "Sorry to read about your troubles. You've given a very detailed account of your condition and related circumstances. It seems that nothing is really wrong with you though you still get these problems. I believe it's got an emotional underlying cause. Perhaps you literally 'can't stomach things'. Things that happened to you some time ago. You might be a very sensitive but proud person and you deal with emotional trauma by bottling it up and it attacks your digestive system. Maybe you need to try counseling. Good luck, hope you get better!"

websage replied: "I know the problem. Have had last 20 years up and down with stomach/digestive issues. I went too and fro to the hospitals over 2 extended periods, this that the other test...did show either I had an ulcer forming, or had had ulcers! Otherwise the generalized 'non-diagnosis' that it was IBS. Not too helpful. The typical Western medicine approach of treating the symptom rather than the cause is why you take acid-suppressants and your gut walls heal for a while...but then you go through the cycle agiain...because after all you have not cured or treated the major cause if the problem. True treatment of the underlying problem usually requires a certain change of lifestyle. This is because as someone mentions a major causative trigger can relate to lifestyle based stress...But the other major 'kind of stress' the gut in particular endures, is through the diet...Digesting food is one of the most traumatic and testing (and AGING!) things the body goes through and has to cope with daily. Constantly, or at least regularly, assaulting your delicate digestive system with a wide array of chemicals and additives used in foods today - it is becoming apparent - is a major cause of ongoing digestive problems for more and more people...AND...The 'indigestion' cures market is a multi-million dollar industry in itself for pharmaceutical companies...they are happy enough to encourage us to 'pop a pill' to 'cure' indigestion...because they know we will soon come back for more!!! Beacuse it DOES NOT cure the problem behind the indigestion! (Its a great cash cow for them!) The reality seems to be that there is a combination of factors that are affecting many of us in the way our diets have been 'perverted' by today's big food manufacturers. In general (in the West - US/UK and much of Europe, at least) we eat far too much chemically laden, highly procesed foods that also include synthetics that our bodies were never evolved to handle. On top of this there is an underlying yet widespread low level sensitivity to certain natural ingredients for many people. We just keep eating the foods because we have been brought up to think of them as 'good for you'... or OK at the very least. The BIG culprits here are lactose (in milk and dairy) and gluten (in wheat based products liek bread). But maybe more important - well at least this is what I found having had many similar 'symptoms' to yourself over the years - is the acknowledgment in recent time that maybe 80% - 90% of people on a typical Western diet have severely impaired digetstive/gut environments. This means that the balance of gut bacteria has been upset by various negative influences - e.g coffee and alcohol both kill good bacteria! Or maybe you have had to take anti-biotics sometime which completely devastates the gut bacteria good and bad! - and we end up with a ratio of say 80% bad -20% good acteria instead of the opposite as it should be. This does not get right by itself - and it does mean that conditions for ulceration to occur can persist. The nett result is that without some serious support the 'good bacteria' cannot get back into a dominant position. This is why more doctors are getting to think that one of the ONLY real supplements we might need is a good quality 'probiotic'. Probiotics (if they are of a good quality) should contain the spectrum of Lactobacillus bacteria as these are the ones that can make it through the stomach acid to get to the intestines where they need to thrive. A good probiotic also needs to have the basic foodstuff in its mix for the good bacteria to get the recolonization off to a good start. There is an useful extended article here: I have not only experienced the benefits myself (in fact I have been pretty amazed at the difference after 20 years of digestive chaos) but have several friends and contacts who have had the same positive experience using a particularly good certified organic brand of probiotic - which means there are NO chemicals or synthetics used even in growing the ingredients that support the bacteria! With the symptoms you have described - I would also recommend - that when as you say you have a period that 'you can eat what you want'...you DO NOT do this - but remain conscious of the type, amount and range of things you consume. For example: (1) Do not overload your system by eating to large meals (2) Avoid highly spiced foods (3) Avoid anything but very moderate intake of alcohol (4) DO eat plenty of green vegetables especially things like broccolli and leafy vegetable (5) Consume plenty of salad and raw vegetable when possible (6) Try to avoid processed foods of any kind as far as possible (this include all raedy made meals, all fast food, all frozen meals, all jars of sauces...etc etc...yes...basically stick to fresh foods only..and freshly prepared foods, and as much organic as possible.. hope this helps."

It has been used for various stomach and intestinal disordes for centuries in the Far East ( the only place the Mangosteen is grown). Xango (tm) is the category creator and supplier of this amazing natural health drink. Many people are reported to have been given reflief of their symptoms by drinking only a few ounces per day over a 90 day period. It is a purely natural formula. You may contact me through this site for any more information required."

Nancy replied: "They're starting to recommend that people with IBS, or IBS-like symptoms be tested for celiac disease, which is an intolerance to gluten (wheat, rye, barley and oats). A lot of people with celiac were misdiagnosed as having IBS for years. (18 years for me). It takes an average of 11 years for a person with celiac to be diagnosed. You also mentioned sleep problems. I had a lot of problems with sleep and it ended up being related to gluten. Which my doctor was surprised by. I remember having sleep problems since being a very young child, all the way up through my diagnosis. Now, a year after going gluten-free the only time I have problems with sleep is if I get exposed to gluten. It's a very common discovery for people with celiac that their sleep improves. It's just one of those odd things that gluten can do to someone who has gluten issues. Here's a webpage by the National Institutes of Health on celiac - ... If that starts sounding familiar here are a couple of message boards for people with celiac and other gluten intolerances. You can also be intolerant to other common foods and get the symptoms you are describing. Soy, corn, eggs, yeast, dairy, etc. You may want to think about keeping a food/symptoms journal and see if you can identify the culprit(s). Nancy"

Second post about IBS please help ! ? I had my gallbladder removed in October of 07 and was diagnosed with IBS shortly after. Since my surgery and being diagnosed I have gained close to 20 pounds. My diet has no changed and don't know why I'm gaining this weight ! Can anyone help me loose my weight any one anything will help . * 1 hour ago * - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details 1 hour ago i am taking omeprazole for stomach acid/heartburn i am not taking any medicine for IBS because the precautions are far worse then the pro's and i am not willing to take the risk. I must be absorbing my calories somewhere, that wasn't in question . I think i am absorbing to many way to fast.

Reason replied: "The fact that you gained weight means that you have no GI problems. Your body is absorbing nutrients just fine. This is a good sign. Unless you take steroids, or medications like SSRI's such as paxil or prozac or zoloft or celexa. These can cause weight gain. You just need to go on a diet and exercize."

jlynne1 replied: "drink water, but i'd call your doctor for some alternatives or go to your local health food store and ask if there are some herbs you can take"

musket83 replied: "Ok first I had the same thing!!! The gallbladder helps breaks down food faster so you do absorb a little more calories, but not a lot. I found with mine I had a lot less issues if I ate healthier and with a lot more fiber. Try like salads and turkey burgers and stuff like that with low fat. Also the fiber will help push stuff out faster so you don't get more calories. Also try to get less like pop and stuff like that or with caffeine b/c this helped me a lot too!"

Is oesophagitis reversible/treatable? I was sent for endoscopy and was diagnosed with "moderately severe reflex oesophagitis", "gastritis" and "duodinitis". I was treated with omeprazole for several weeks but the thing did not go. I had to discontinue the treatment because I was finding no improvement and the debts were getting out of manageable proportions. Now I still find difficulty in swallowing, but the most publicly embarrassing is the hiccupping and belching. Is this conidition treatable/curable? Or am I going to continue like this? Am I at risk of fatality? And I experience shortness of breath. Is this related? What about the dizziness, fatigue, tingilng, vertigo and headaches?

the_only_solorose replied: "esophagitis is of course treatable...but if you will not do the treatment because of other financial priorities then of course you will not get better. If the Omeprazole did not work, then I suggest that you need to consult a different doctor for different treatment, but you have to commit to your own health and the financial burden that represents."

Geenahh replied: "As for the gastritis, it depends on the cause. If you have the heliobacter pylori bacteria in your stomach, you may need to be treated with several antibiotics. It can lead to ulcers and other such GI problems. It is the most common bacteria that causes GI problems. The doctor may have taken a biopsy during the endoscopy. Ask him/her if you have the bacteria and what can be done for it. There should be other medications to treat the discomfort of acid reflux as well. The shortness of breath could explain the other symptoms. You need to speak to your doctor about them. It doesn't seem to be a related issue. Tell your doctor about all of your concerns so he/she can address all of them."

lori replied: "Causes and Risk Factors of Esophagitis Chemicals especially likely to cause very severe corrosive esophagitis include cleaning or disinfectant solutions. Factors that contribute to the development of reflux esophagitis include the caustic nature of the refluxate, the inability to clear the refluxate from the esophagus, the volume of gastric contents, and local mucosal protective functions. Poor lower esophageal segment functioning may be associated with a hiatal hernia, in which the top part of the stomach slides back and forth between the chest and the abdomen. Symptoms may be worsened by alcohol, smoking, sedentary lifestyle and obesity. Symptoms of Esophagitis The main symptom of reflux esophagitis is heartburn, with or without regurgitation of gastric contents into the mouth, which worsens on bending over. Complications of GERD include esophagitis and possibly massive but limited hemorrhage. Treatment of Esophagitis Treatment of corrosive esophagitis involves reducing pain and making the patient comfortable. Gastric lavage is to be avoided in that it may worsen the condition. Development of a severe esophageal stricture may require dilatation and perhaps surgery. Uncomplicated GERD may be tolerated for many years with good response to medical therapy. Management consists of: Elevating the head of the bed Avoiding strong stimulants of acid secretions (e.g., coffee, alcohol) Avoiding certain drugs (e.g., anticholinergics), specific foods (fats, chocolate), and smoking, all of which lower esophageal sphincter competence Giving an antacid to neutralize gastric acidity and possibly increase lower esophageal sphincter competence Use of cholinergic agonists to increase sphincter pressure Use of H2 agonists to reduce stomach acidity Surgical treatment may be necessary to correct a hiatal hernia."

Vicki J replied: "Risk of fatality? I don't think immediately, but long-term reflux increases your chance for developing the precancerous condition Barrett's esophagus, which increases your risk of developing esophageal cancer. Even though your absolute risk of esophageal cancer is fairly low and usually happens to the elderly, it has a dismal survival rate, so it is important that you treat your esophagitis, gastritis, and duodinitis. (BTW, I believe long-term gastritis may increase your risk of stomach cancer.) Anyway, just because omeprazole didn't work for you doesn't mean another proton pump inhibitor won't. Many people have to try several varieties of PPH before they find the one that works. I know it can be expensive, but you are worth it and, yes, it is important to resolve."

Diabetic Foot Ulcer. Please help! :(? Hi, fellow Yahoo users. I have a question about Diabetic foot ulcers. But first, a history of my 're-occuring' problem. I, unfortunately, developed an ulcer/hole on the ball of my left foot, at the end of June. It became so badly infected, and was weeping like no tomorrow. I bandaged it, packed it up, and kept it as hygenic as possible, up to five times a day. After seeing my doctor, he admitted me to my local hospital, on the 10th of July. A group of specialist assessed my wound, and told me that there was a possibility I'd have to have my middle toe amputated. Turns out that my toe had become swollen and a slightly deeper shade. And the infected nail (That I've had for two years, now) was showing no signs of improvement. I had almost-immediate surgery, where the hole was made bigger, so the surgeons could scrape out as much infected tissue as possible. I was then in the hospital for a further two weeks, taking numerous antibiotics and painkillers as tablets/capsules and through an IV. I was on.. 1: Penicillin. 2: Omeprazole 3: Flucloxacillin. 4: Codeiine 5: Hyoscine-N-Butylbromide. Anyway, I was eventually discharged, which briings me to my question. it's been a week, and for some strange reason, my foot is almost as swollen as when it was badly infected. I've kept it as clean as possible, and kept off it as much as I can. But the middle toe is significantly redder and more swollen than the others. The hole underneath my foot is about the size of the baby fingernail on an average hand. it's got a dull green/rust-coloured soft 'scab' covering. I've made an immediate appointment to see my doctor. But I need advice. Should I return to hospital and risk losing a possible toe that COULD be saved? Or.. I don't know. I'm sorry.. I'm really worried out of my mind. Thank you all for reading and responding. I really appreciate any help I get. Jamie. Hi, everybody. had some luck seeing the doctor at my local surgery/clinic. I've been put on Flucloxicillin and Amoxycillin syrups. And I've got an appointment on the 11th of August, at my local Orthopaedic clinic. My foot is still very much reddened, swollen and bloody 'orrible, but I'm managing. Really very kind of you all to help me. I can't remember the user's name on here, but I'll try putting pillows under my legs at night. Thank you very much. Jamie x.x

Emerson replied: "You should consult your Doctor regarding that matter, because any alterations on that part of your body may lead to further complications. Since youve mentioned that youre a diabetic person. I preferably and advised you to be more watchful regarding on the status of your health. You must follow and consult your physician regularly for you to prevent further complications."

Wendy Jean replied: "Hmmm, green does not sound good. There is an infection there, which will need to be thoroughly looked at by the specialist, sorry. Donot delay."

Lorna D replied: "You have to put yourself into the hands of the professionals, they wouldn,t amputate a toe if it wasn,t strictly necessary.Hope it all goes well for you .xx"

whitefords replied: "As someone who lost all the toes on one foot in similar circumstances my advice is don't muck around ... get to hospital as fast as possible. Infection is hard to contain I was in hospital for 2 months before I got rid of the infection so the sooner you start getting treatment the better you will be. It wont just go away by itself Try this site lots of good advice by fellow diabetics in the U.K. Good Luck"

Arbba replied: "Diabetes is one difficult sick, i think you can try this treatment:http://www.diabeat.cc"

zyllee replied: "Don't wait. Just go to the hospital. Don't mess around when it comes to infections when you are diabetic. Better to be safe than sorry."

kmouse47 replied: "Go back to your Doctor. If you will use a pillow under your legs at night it will help with swelling. My wife was sent to have custom sandles made when she had ulcers on her feet. We thought her Doc was nuts but did it anyway. Two months the ulcers were all healed. She had to wear them all the time even in the house. They were made to take all pressuer off where the ulcers were on the feet. If you have ins. it may pay for them. Best of luck."

Homeless question PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!? I am a 24 year old male in extremely poor health, I suffer chronic pain and rheumatoid arthritis, I have had a history of self harm and severe depression, I use a variety of medications such as Sulfasalazine, Hydroxychloroquine, Prednisolone Steroid, Omeprazole, Morphine MR, and Vitamin Supplements including Fortisip for my extreme thin ness due to stress has caused me to become clinically Anorexic (not same as the one with distorted images I dont see myself as fat). I am homeless and rough sleeping and my local MP, my lawyer and Medical Professionals from Surgeries and Hospital have wrote to back me for housing, as I say I am now rough sleeping and my health is deteriorating badily. But the Council are refusing to help me at all stating im a young single male who is not vulnerable meaning im not new from jail, not homosexual, not a hard drug addict according to the Council. I have told my story to the local papers too. My heart recently has also been experiencing palpitrations and strong pains from my heart area. I am now considering suicide even though I know I will go to hell fire for this greed. I am disabled and unable to work, I live in London UK so cannot afford private housing and I have no one who will allow me to stay with them. I have been waiting for 4 months now for my DLA and almost as long for me to be seen by a medic for my Incapacity (ESA), when the rules says with ESA week 14 your meant to be placed into groups I am still on 50 per week crap. I need some serious legal help I need housing of some kind tonight or I fear im going to OD on the Morphine I have, because of my mental state im unable to be housed in Hostels because im mentally unstable and I have a supressed immune system and the Morphine will be a target as almost ALL Hostels around here are full of drug addicts and hookers. The system to me is a sexist feminest dream, I was told if I was a female of my agwe they would house me because I would be at risk of Prostitution but being Disabled according to the council means I can be homeless and NOT have 1 bad effect on my health, my Rheumatologist got angry and said council wants me Cripple before helping, local MP said I am a vulnerable adult and my GP said my disease will worsen in days or hours if im made homeless. I am using the local library pc because it is free. PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP I AM BEGGING YOU I cant work im disabled and have been constantly deferred from work focussed interviews, I would be working now if I could London NHS sacked me cos of my Disease. made me unreliable. Even if I could work I wuld NOT be paid today or find a job today. I have religion but churches turn their backs on me because I dont embrace their theology. Even my own religion is making me sick how certain people act. God himself does not doe. I have lost hope, I cant take this, I am thinking of writing a suicide letter, then give a copy to my lawyer and to the local papers and keep one on me. I cant take this no more, I not felt so worthless since I last self harmed.

dale replied: "contact the church they often help in these cases, don't lose hope!"

draciron replied: "I'm in the US so I'm not going to be tons of help for ya. What I suggest is finding a non-profit group and help them as much as you are able. Don't ask them for anything, just look for something you can help with and do it. Then find another group and do the same. You do this you will secure two things. Help from that group. People are always more willing to help those who help them. The second is a sense of purpose. You lack any purpose in your life. We all need purpose. If we lose our purpose we become depressed and sucidadal. It's a natural consequence. Some find solace and purpose in religion. Some find it in charitable work. Some find it in careers. Some find it in their art or trade. Many find it in their families and or jobs. You have a mind and you have heart. Use it. Do what you are able and you'll find you are able to do more than you thought you could. No your not heading for the olympics or going to become a Rock star. However there are people out there who you can help and who can help you in return. If you wait for the Gov you'll be long buried before they ever think about helping you. It's the way of governments. Unless you have leverage you get nothing from your government but grief. Making sense?"

Buzz Kill replied: "Is there any types of jobs you could do? A job might help bring purpose to your life and bring in more money. I'll bet there is something(s) you are good at. Focus on that."

mary replied: "If you were to contact the emergency services and say you had taken some kind of overdose, surely they'd put you in a hospital (it may even be a mental hospital), and then i'm sure the hospital can't turf you out on the streets and you'll be assigned a social worker who be able to help you get somewhere to live. The thing is, in London, there are hundreds, probably thousands of homeless as i'm sure you well know, but have you considered maybe relocating up north (not a city though) maybe a quiet village for example. If you were homeless in a quiet village, the council would help you more get into a property as they wouldn't want you on the streets as it looks bad for them, whereas in london the homeless population is so large its out of the council's control. Have you thought about moving to a quiet town somewhere where the homeless population is very small ? By the way i'm SERIOUSLY not saying take an overdose to get into a mental hospital, maybe tell them you have thoughts of killing yourself but do NOT actually do it. There is help out there, you've not found it yet, but it is out there. My husband does some work with homeless people but we are up north and i'm not sure what the procedure is for homeless people around here, but he'll be home from work after 6pm when i can ask him, and i'll EDIT THIS POST and add details onto it. Please keep on asking for help all the time, its coming upto christmas and it's obviously going to be freezing on the streets. Please keep people posted on here how you are. My thoughts go out to you.x ADDITIONAL DETAILS...........added 6 hours after question asked....... I have asked my husband what the proceedure is for homelessness in our neck of the woods, and he's said firstly go to your local homeless section at the council, then they will evaluate if you really are homeless (and have no family or friends you can stay with). Then there are bed and breakfast accomodations that homeless people get temporarily put in until they can get on there feet and claim benefits etc. Once you have an address, then you'll be able to claim all kinds of benefits like disability, housing benefit, council tax benefit, income tax etc etc. If you have a doctor that signs you off work and you have a disability, then there are so many benefits you can claim. These benefits are for people like yourself, people who desperately need them. As you are homeless i'm guessing you have no ties to London, no family etc, so why not relocate somewhere new rather than london which is overrun with homeless people ? PLEASE COME BACK ON HERE and talk to us again when you get the chance to get back on the libary computers. As another person has said YOU ARE A FIGHTER, to give up now is pointless, there is help out there, unfortunately you are a tiny dot in a huge problem whilst you are in london. I understand you can't just hop on a train and relocate to a quiet village as you dont have the money, but what about hitch hiking with a trucker possibly ? THERE IS HELP OUT THERE, you have to reach out and ask though, i understand you feel like you have probably asked everyone there possibily is out there, but more people are out there who can and will help you. You are at the very bottom of despair, you feel like there is never any way out. Move away from where you are, if you have to beg for money to get a coach up north. You have no commitments whatsoever, so why not ? Please come back on here and tell us what you want to do and lets see if we can help you. I will come back on here every day and see if you've posted a new question and i will answer you. Please look after yourself ok, take care. xx"

pickle head replied: "You're a fighter, that's for sure. Above all of your problems, you ARE a fighter. To commit suicide would simply get you out of the way ... when actually, you could well LEAD the way for others in your situation to GET the assistance THEY TOO need, IF and only IF, you don't give up your fight until you get the help you need and draw attention to the situation. If you commit suicide, you help no one. Good Luck!"

Chocolate Starfish replied: "get yourself put into a mental hospital for a few weeks by commiting some sort of public outrage or bizzare crime........once in the system u will then be allocated a social worker and they wont be able to discharge u until the social services finds u accomodation and some sort of ongoing care package...........good luck"

I have right sided neck pain, ear pain when swallowing, but only water. Difficulty swallowing only salive? I want to the doctor a mont ago and she said it is probably acidity. I have been taking omeprazole and have quit smoking and drinking the pain seems to have decreased, but now I have a swollenl lymph node one the back of my neck and one below the right jaw. I have an appointment with the ENT in a few days, but have been worrying my self to death about throat cancer. I am 32 and have been drinking for 11 years and smoking for 6. (I know this puts me in the high risk category), but could some one please let me know of some other otential causes.

sokokl replied: "Another possibility for your pain could be something like a condition called TMJ Syndrome (an example only). TMJ Syndrome is a condition that causes the temporal mandibular joint (this joint connects the top and bottom jaws) to become inflammed and sometimes people who have this can also grind their teeth such as if they are stressed about something (another example only). I have this condition. The symptom I had with mine was that I had pain in my ear and the medication that I was getting from one ENT wasn't working. I told him it wasn't working and he didn't listen so I went and got another opinion. That second opinion told me that it was related to my jaw. So I then went to another doctor to have it treated and started to feel better."

Swine flu & abnormally fluctuating autoimmune hepatitis? My partner is suffering from liver problems, the best can be described as "Abnormally fluctuating autoimmune hepatitis". She's currently on a course of meds to control her liver, listed below: Daily intake: Azathioprine = 50mg Prednisolone = 40mg Omeprazole = 50mg One of my colleagues partners has been diagnosed with swine flu. His partner has just been sent home from our office with strong flu-like symptoms. The company who have contracted her to our office have decided to NOT let it be known that her partner is indeed confirmed with contracting H1N1. Obviously I am worried because of my partners buggered immune system, and the fact that she has severe liver problems. The NHS are telling us that nothing at all can be done until one of us starts to have symptoms from H1N1. Now this leads me to believe two things; either: a) Swine flu has been hyped up by the media and turned into a scare b) The people we have spoken to are oblivious to the fact that my partner is in a high-risk group Just wondered if anyone else is in a similar situation? Can anyone offer any advise? essentiallysolo: We have already requested it, however we're being told that she can't get it without me or herself getting the symptoms. Obviously if she does get it, it could mean months in hospital or possibly worse. Is there any way we can get it without having symptoms?

essentiallysolo replied: "have her talk to her doctor about getting a pre ion for Tamiflu, if she comes down with symptoms of flu, she must start the Tamiflu right away."

Pretty replied: "Eat Fresh vegetables and fruits. Take lots of vitamin C. Blueberry Leaf in a pill form is supposed to help regulate your liver. Go to this Web Site. This Doctor is a M.D. and also Naturopathic. He should be able to tell you what to do....Dr. Weil.Com..... He has books out, too. I have one. He's good. I will pray for you all. Tell her to Visualize herself each day has being strong and healthy. Tell her to "Tell" her liver to be healthy, and function strong. I am serious. This works. God's blessings!"
