Does anyone know what kind of birth control pills are the best, and how is the Mircette pill? I was just prescribed Mircette birth control pills, and I am scared of gaining weight, getting acne and having a low sex drive. I want to know if MIrcette is a good pill to take.

prepqueenx replied: "Yazz gets rid of acne and stops bloating"

cassie replied: "Ive tried several differnet kinds of birth control and all have resulted in weight gain and low sex drive. I've never heard of Mircette so I can't answer for that. As far as acne goes- most bc pills are supposed to prevent you from getting acne. The gaining weight issue might be 3-10 lbs, at least with me it was, but thats better than being pregnant. I'm currently taking Seasonique- You only get your period 4 times a year- it's great"

Brutally Honest replied: "There is NO way to tell. What is horrible for one person is going to be great for another. The advantage to BCPs is that if you're having adverse side effects, you can change without any hassles. The doctor just gives you a different formulation, until you find one that is good for YOU. It took me nearly 2 DOZEN formulations before I found one that was good for me....but other people HATE it. All you can do is try it for 3 months; if you don't like it, request to change and try a different pill for 3 months."

Chavo Baby!!!!!! replied: "ortho tri cyclen"

Has anyone had any problems with the birth control, Mircette? I was wondering if anybody has had any problems with mood swings/depression with that particular birth control? Thanks!

Mark replied: "My wife has 2 babies and she is never find this find of problem.."

How do you like Mircette birth control pills? recently i went on birth control and my doctor suggested Mircetta for my first dosage. How have your bodies reacted?...any side effect i should be aware of?

sokokl replied: "I went on Mircette back in the late 90s when it first came out and while I liked that I didn't have to worry about nausea from taking it in the a.m. I did end up having a lot of problems with breakthrough bleeding (bleeding that acts a lot like a period but isn't). I finally had to go off of it after a time to a higher dose birth control pill when it came to amounts of hormone in the medication. If it weren't for the breakthrough bleeding and one other issue I had because of how low the estrogen was I would have stayed on the medication."

Has anyone taken the birth control Mircette? What side-effects did you have? So far I've had nothing but nauseousness.

sokokl replied: "I did Mircette for 3 years back from 1998-2001 and the biggest problem I had was that of breakthrough bleeding due to the fact that the amount of hormone in the medication was too low for me. It also bothered my breast some in a different way but not as badly as one other brand I did prior to it."

ive been on mircette birth control pills for 7 years. i havent had a period in 4 years is this normal? i used to get them every month with the pill. in the last 4 yrs i havent gotten them at all, but afraid to stop the pill for fear of pregnancy. my gyn said its normal not to have a period while on the pill. is it?? should i switch to a different pill?

sayjo_x33 replied: "your gyno knows better than anyone on yahoo answers. if your still afraid, go talk to her again- or consult a different gyno."

C D replied: "You need to give your body a break from the pill. it's unhealthy not to have a period."

alpla replied: "Not really. The monthly period serves no useful biological purpose in a normal woman."

mmmvagina. replied: "its because you arent taking the placebos you have to take the pills at the end of the pre ion and you will have it."

mdh9237 replied: "All reasearch points to it being okay not to have a period. experts say you can stop you period taking any pill...you just start the new set instead of taking the sugar pills. Get a second opinion if you are concerned."

joes_mom86 replied: "i went for 14 years with out having one. my gyn. checked once a year said everything was normal."

JE replied: "Just I recommend getting a second opinion from another gynecologist. If what he/she says corresponds with what your normal gynecologist says that you should be fine. You should be asking a doctor... someone that is a professional, not this place. What are you thinking?"

Anyone taking Mircette birth control? I am and I have been spotting for a week now and it sucks. This is my? 2nd month of taking it and Im not supposed to start for another week! Anyone else take this before?

Maria P replied: "i was taking cilest at one time about 5years ago but i was constanly on my period then of for a few days then back on all the time...i chaged my pill and it was fine ."

I'm on birth control [mircette] & I was wondering can you get pregnant in the first week of taking it? I've heard that you aren't supposed to have sex during the first week of taking it but it hasn't been confirmed true or false. Is it true you can get pregnant the first week of taking it and if so what will happen if you get pregnant and aren't aware of it?

Terri replied: "You can get pregnant ANY TIME you have sex, whether you have been on the pill for one day or ten years. NOTHING is 100% effective except for abstinence. You should wear a condom the first MONTH to ensure it is effective."

p replied: "It usually takes your body about a month to get regulated to the birth control, but nothing is 100% effective, you can get pregnant anytime you have sex."

melle13 replied: "takes 3months for it to be fully in your body if you had it unprotected and he did his thing in you, you can be pregnant. i am on yasmin. ive been on it for 7 months. ive had unprotected sex a couple of times and he did his thing in me and i havent gotten pregnant. its not a good thing to do mind you. so yes you can be."

Mom [to be] at 14. replied: "i rele dont no."

FeatherHead replied: "Yes...best to wait 2 months...."

Calisia replied: "It depends on whether you are a Sunday starter or a Day 1 starter. If you started taking the pill AFTER your period has started, there is a greater chance for you to be pregnant as the pill does not take effect right away. If you are a Day 1 starter, you might be safe assuming you took it correctly (not skipping any and taking them on time). Of course the pill is effective 99%, so there are no guarantees. Don't obsess about pregnancy if you are not late because stress can make your periods irregular."

<3 replied: "My doctor said it takes 2 weeks to be fully sure but she also said that as soon as its in your system its working, and i didnt get pregnant so i guess its true? You'll become aware your pregnant when your next period is due and it doesnt come that month. But if it doesnt come in the first 4 days dont stress because the pill can sometimes stuff up your bodies routine, its normal for everyone's to be late the first time you take the pill."

jumbojett4 replied: "Yes for most people you would want to have been through one or two cycles to be sure that the tablets are having the desired effect."

How soon does the birth control pill "mircette" become effective? I just got a pre ion for it & will be picking it up.. Does anyone know how soon it is effective against pregnancy? Some say a month others say only 7 days. So confused. I'll ask my doc.. Any input apprecaited tho, especially people who have been on this particular pill..because I THINK it varies for different ones....thx!

ladyren replied: "It comes with an written insert. Read it. The next 18 years of your life depends on it."

SaltWater replied: "According the the blurb it takes 7 days to become effective - hope this helps."

evelyn v replied: "it only takes 1 week."

What has been your experience with the birth control pill Mircette? Ive just been given a pre ion for it. I DO realize people react differently to different bc pills..so I'll take everyones input with a grain of salt. But what has been your overall expereince with it?

Melody B replied: "I'm afraid I haven't actually used Mircette but perhaps you could ask your doctor or nurse or a parental planning clinic to tell you the typical reactions of women who use this pill. I hope this helps you out a bit! x"

Mindy M replied: "I was prescribed Mircette because I have migraines before and sometimes during my period. I'm real sensitive to high-hormone birth control, and this one worked just fine. I didn't have any side effects and it reduced my migraines. I totally recommend it."

Period is very dark. Could it be because of new birth control Mircette? I recently switched to a birth control called Mircette. I used to be on Jolivette. My gyno said that this month, my period may be irregular and not come as expected because of the switching from brand to another brand (i was late last month..stress) and lots of complications that may cause my period to be out of sync. So, i got my period yesterday which I find odd because I hadn't started the placebo pills yet. It's very dark brown and lighter than usual. And small, very tiny, clots come out sometimes too. Does Mircette cause a lighter but darker period? Or is it just different because of the timing and switching pills?

Nurse Annie replied: "Dark/brown discharge is old blood and is normal unless it lasts for an extended amount of time, or if there is a strong odor. If there is a strong odor this indicates infection and requires a doctor's visit. Otherwise what you are experiencing is quite normal considering your circumstances and just switching pills."

nahna replied: "how do I say this? Birth control can be bad for you be careful some thing that is fool proof and wont hurt you is NFP look it up! If you want kids some day then stay away from the other stuff! (and I heard they were linking it to all kinds of femine cancers) thx girl!"
